When Accuracy Matters, Choose Experts

A diagnostic is not just about plugging something in and hoping for a result. At iCorrect, diagnostics mean real investigation. We break down each device, examine the real cause of failure, and go deeper than anyone else. We work at component and microchip level, where most repair centres simply stop. This is what makes us different.

There are many repair shops that offer diagnostics, but the majority lack the ability to actually complete logic board level repairs. That is the difference. If a shop cannot test and repair logic board faults, then their diagnostic may only ever result in one or two outcomes: it is not repairable or you should replace your device. We believe being told something is not repairable is simply incorrect. If the company or technician does not know how to actually test the logic board and does not have the knowledge of how the circuitry works, then their only conclusion will be replacement. If it is that you should replace, that is the easy answer. But we live in such a throwaway culture, and that is simply not sustainable.

What We Test and How We Do It

We begin by evaluating your device externally, testing voltage and current draw using precision power meters. These tell us if the device is accepting power correctly or if there is a fault in the charging circuit. Then we move to deeper, internal analysis.

Step 1: External Power Testing

We check how much current your device is drawing from the charger. This shows if the power path is working or where power loss occurs.

Step 2: DC Power Supply Injection

We apply power directly to the logic board to simulate boot conditions and understand board behaviour under controlled conditions.

Step 3: Thermal & Visual Inspection

Using microscopes and thermal imaging, we identify shorts, corrosion, or failed components. Everything is documented and traceable.

Step 4: Logic Board Circuit Mapping

We test power, charging and audio circuits using custom repair maps and multimeters to locate the fault precisely.

Step 5: Quote and Report

We send a report including the issue found, relevant photos, and a detailed quote. You stay informed every step of the way.

FAQs

Learn more about iCorrect, the essential repair services that we offer and the warranties that come with each repair.

What is a diagnostic and why is it necessary?

A diagnostic is the process of testing, measuring, and analysing your device to find out exactly what is wrong. At iCorrect, it is not a quick scan or guesswork. We test at logic board level and component level so you get a definitive answer, not a vague guess.

What types of issues require a diagnostic first?

Diagnostics are essential when the fault is unclear or could have multiple causes. Common examples include power failures, battery not charging, no display, random shutdowns, overheating, no sound, camera failures, or post-liquid damage.

How much does a diagnostic cost?

Diagnostics start from £29 for Apple Watch, £39 for iPhone, and £49 for iPad and MacBook. This includes all testing, disassembly, measurements, and a full report. If the fault is obvious, we may go straight to repair and waive the diagnostic fee.

What do I get after the diagnostic?

You receive a clear breakdown of the fault, supporting test data, photos if applicable, and a confirmed quote to complete the repair. If you choose not to proceed, your device is returned reassembled or you can recycle it with us.

How long does a diagnostic take?`

Diagnostics usually take 1 to 2 working days for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 2 to 3 working days for iPad and MacBook, depending on complexity and parts required. Express options are available on request.

Can diagnostics be done while I wait or same day?

Some basic tests can be done while you wait, but full diagnostics that involve internal testing, DC power injection, and microscope analysis require more time. We prioritise accuracy over speed.

Will I be charged if you can’t repair the device?

Yes, the diagnostic fee still applies because it covers the full testing process. However, if we determine the device is unrepairable, we can offer a trade-in value or data recovery options where possible.

What if another shop has already looked at my device?

That is fine. In fact, we regularly diagnose failed repairs or identify faults that other shops missed. Our diagnostics go deeper than most, especially when logic board work is involved.

Do diagnostics void my Apple warranty?

If your device is already damaged, it is likely out of Apple warranty. Apple typically considers liquid damage, screen cracks, or internal modifications as voiding the warranty. We are transparent and will always advise you before proceeding.

Is diagnostic testing safe for my data?

Yes. Our process is non-destructive and we always prioritise data integrity. We do not wipe your device, and we take every precaution to protect your information during testing and repair.
